The Chemical Engineering Department started in 1996 at Government Polytechnic, Thane, with an intake of 60. This department runs a diploma program in Chemical Engineering. Chemical Engineering is basically built on chemical reaction engineering, mass transfer, and transport processes. All the faculty members of this department are highly educated (M.E. / M.Tech). Two faculty members are pursuing Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
The department has signed MoUs with nearby industries to enhance the practical skills of students. Students have good opportunities for jobs due to the strong chemical belt around the college, such as Taloja MIDC, Mahape MIDC, Dombivli MIDC, and Ambernath MIDC. The strength of the Chemical Engineering Department is its well-equipped laboratories for students. The department has laboratories for Mechanical Operations, Fluid Flow Operations, Chemical Process Technology, Heat and Mass Transfer, Petrochemical Technology, and Environmental Engineering. A well-developed computer laboratory is also available for students.
PEO1: Provide socially responsible, environment friendly solutions to chemical engineering related broad based problems.
